Killorglin is situated on a hill over-looking the wide and graceful River Laune, a river famous for its salmon and trout fishing. Dominating the landscape to the south are the Macgillycuddy Reeks - Ireland's highest mountain range (see hill walking section). The town has some lovely little pubs and restaurants but if you really want to see the town come alive then you have to visit during the infamous Puck Fair. Each year on the 10th, 11th & 12th of August Killorglin celebrates Ireland's oldest and most unusual festival “Puck Fair”.
