Start where ever you want and work anticlockwise - for no particular reason we start our tour in Glenbeigh.

  • When you visit Glenbeigh make sure you take in Rossbeigh beach (don’t worry about the weather you didn’t come to Ireland for the sun).
  • From Glenbeigh visit Cahersiveen, detouring via the beautiful seaside village of Kells.
  • In Cahersiveen make sure you visit the stone forts of, Cahergal and Leacanabuaile (Ballycarberry Castle is also en route so pick that up also).
  • When you leave Cahersiveen take the ferry into Valentia Island (summer sailings only), off season take the road via Portmagee and tour the island. Pick what you want from our selection of sights in  Valentia / Portmagee.
  • When you leave Valentia head for Waterville via Ballinskelligs. These are not primary roads so take care and enjoy the views.
  • Make sure you visit the Skellig Islands.
  • In Waterville make a detour around the back of the village to see the lake and take a trip to Church Island.
  • From Waterville head to Derrynane and take a walk on Derrynane beach and take in the Derrynane Abbey and burial ground. A visit to Derrynane House is optional. From Derrynane head to Sneem and sample the sights in and around the village.
  • Head to Kenmare from Sneem (don’t be tempted to take the short cut back to Killarney omitting Kenmare).
  • Pick what you want to see in Kenmare, we would recommend a viewing of the Old Kenmare Cemetery.
  • Drive to Killarney via Molls Gap.
  • Take in what you want to see in and around Killarney.
  • From Killarney head back to your base in Glenbeigh via Killorglin and Caragh Lake district.
  • Make sure to pick up the Gap of Dunloe near Beaufort between Killarney and Killorglin

As previously stated you can start and end where you please, we picked the above starting and ending point at random. We have not told you where to stay but please take a look at the hotels, guest houses and bed and breakfast accommodation in Kerry listed on our Where to Stay page.
